The combination of the large size of the jug and the rarity of the ‘Orange Roof Cottage’ design made it an extremely sought after item - it made an amazing £2,400 against an £800/£1200 estimate. The delighted buyer of the jug, who drove hundreds of miles to collect it himself, said he particularly wanted the jug because the cottage had been painted in a larger size than normal.
