Current Saleroom Information 

Our very popular New Year Sale will be held on the 2nd & 3rd of January and includes a full range of good quality antiques including ceramics, glass, furniture, paintings and collectables. It also features special sections for Coins & Postcards.  The catalogue will be online from the 16th of December giving it maximum exposure all over the holiday period. This sale always attracts a record number of buyers making it an excellent time to sell good quality Antiques & Collectables.

We are delighted to be hosting our Festive Pre-Christmas Viewing on the afternoon of the 18th of December 2pm to 6pm with a chance to chat with staff whilst enjoying a glass of mulled wine and mince pies. We will of course be open for normal viewing on Monday 30th & Tuesday 31st of December 10am-5pm and on the morning of the sales 9am to 10am. Please note we will not be open on Wednesday - New Years Day.

Entering Items for Auction

We will be accepting entries from the 14th to the 28th of of November for our very popular New Year Sale on the 2nd & 3rd of January.  The sale includes a full range of antiques including Silver, Gold, Jewellery, Ceramics, Glass, Watches, Furniture, Pictures & Collectables. It also includes special sections for Coins & Postcards. The fully illustrated catalogue for this sale is online all over the holiday period and it attracts a larger volume of buyers at a time when good quality stock is scarce - making it an excellent time to sell!

All our auctions are currently selling extremely well and we encourage vendors to consign good quality antiques & collectables to take advantage of this buoyant market. 

If you are unable to attend the saleroom in person with your entries we can provide free valuations remotely from photographs sent by email or a home visit can be arranged for larger consignments. Please note we can only value a small number of items from photographs.

 Bidding at our Auctions

Bidding can be done in the traditional way in person at our saleroom on sale days. 

Alternatively you can bid live online through our website or by using the bidding platforms Easylive Auctions or The-Saleroom.com. An additional fee for bidding live online is charged by these providers. These bids are completely confidential between you and the bidding platform and we as the auctioneers are not able to access or view these bids in any way. 

Commission bids or Absentee bids can be booked directly with Smiths Auctions by email, telephone or through our website. These are free of charge and mean that the auctioneer will bid on your behalf during the auction. Telephone bids can also be arranged directly with Smiths Auctions for higher value items - these are also free of charge.

Smiths provide an excellent in-house postage service for most small to medium sized items in the sale. Please see our postage page for further information or telephone us to check your item or items can be posted.

Condition Reports - Please note the catalogue does not include condition reports however we are very happy to provide condition reports, additional images and further information during the week prior to the sale. 

 


 Viewing

Our salerooms are normally open for viewing without an appointment on the two days prior to the sale 10am to 5pm and on the morning of the sales 9am-10am. However for our January sale Please Note we will be closed on the Wednesday (New Years Day) and open for viewing on Monday 30th & Tuesday 31st of December 10am-5pm.

 


 Collections & Postage

Purchases can be collected from the saleroom without an appointment. Items can be paid for in advance via our online secure payment system, by bank transfer or by card or cash at the saleroom. We will be open on the Saturday morning after the sale 10am-12noon and then Monday to Thursday 10am-5pm.  All items must be collected by the Thursday following the sale. Items not collected in a timely and considerate manner will be charged storage fees. Please notify us if you are unable to collect your items during the week following the sale.

We offer a reasonably priced excellent and very popular 'in house' postage service for most small to medium items. Please ask for details if you are unsure about which items might be suitable for posting or view details of our postage service on our home page.
